my history
Offering you first class craftsmanship with pristine features.
I learned silversmithing from my father, Filiberto Gomez, a well-known silversmith who have won many first-prices during the annual Silver Fair in Taxco, Gro. Mexico, (the Silver Capital of the World) along with my brothers. I took a course in design at INBA, Institute of Beauty Arts in Mexico City. I married to Richard Curoe and moved to Canada. I learned to work with gold for a few years. In 1984, I worked for the provincial government Alberta Municipal Affairs for many years. I started doing repair work with friends and co-workers, hoping one day I will have my own business as a jeweler.
The company started as Alberta Discount Jewellers, a family run business. It was strictly working with gold and silver doing repair and special work. In 1995, the name changed to Metalix Inc. when my oldest son David, a self-taught metalsmith and designer worked as an associate manager specialising in body modification and piercing jewellery, using surgical stainless, titanium, acrylics gold and silver and becoming a second-generation metalsmith. We opened a store in Edmonton manufacturing body modification products, some one-of-a kind in wholesale and retail.
